Patients scheduled for colorectal surgery at Corewell »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â William Beaumont University Hospital and Beaumont, Troy participate in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, a state-of-the-art pre-surgical education program also known as ERAS. This innovative method of multidisciplinary patient care management helps patients recover more quickly after surgery.

DaVinci Xi robotic-assisted surgical system

In 2014, Beaumont became the first health system in Michigan to use the DaVinci Xi robotic-assisted surgical system. Corewell »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â William Beaumont University Hospital and Beaumont, Troy are among the highest volume hospitals for surgeries performed on DaVinci systems in the nation. The Xi system is also available at other Beaumont facilities.

Smaller, keyhole-like incisions allow qualifying patients to experience faster recovery times, less pain and scarring, lower blood loss and shorter hospital stays than traditional surgical techniques.


Colorectal Research

As one of the nation's highest volume centers for the treatment of colon and rectal disease, Beaumont participates as a member of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group. Whenever appropriate, patients will be given the option to participate in national clinical trials for cancer research.
