What is bullying?
Bullying is unwanted aggressive behavior with the intent to do harm, it involves a real or perceived power imbalance, and the behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
Examples of bullying can include:
- teasing or making fun of someone
- talking about hurting someone
- spreading rumors or telling lies
- leaving someone out on purpose
- attacking someone by hitting, pushing or fighting them
- taking or destroying someone's things
- using technology such as text messages, the internet, email, social
media, or pictures to be mean, spread rumors or threaten someone
What type of services does NoBLE provide?
NoBLE currently provides education and guidance in dealing with
bullying situations. Bullying Issues Mediation Program, in partnership
with Oakland Mediation Center, is a service for schools/parents to help
resolve issues related to bullying behavior. NoBLE also provides
referrals for counseling and other resources. Additional programs are
under development.
Is NoBLE only for children who have been bullied?
No, NoBLE is for youth that have been affected by bullying as a
bully, target, witness or any combination thereof, as well as their
families.
